Firebelly Marketing Process Book

This book was designed and constructed to explain the process Firebelly Marketing uses to work with clients.
I collaborated with one other designer, Jacquelyn Halpern, to create a concept for the book. We worked together on the design of the process maps, and constructed the book together. From shopping for wood and hardware, sanding, sawing, and drilling, we worked together to make five of these books. Each book was branded exclusively for the particular client it was being mailed to.

The content is locked and mailed to the client in order to provide an exclusive experience that the client is talked through. The complicated process is more easily understood when CEO, Duncan Alney, has a Skype or in-person meeting with prospective clients.

Jackie and I designed this experience so that when the client receives the confidential and complex information contained within the book, they would feel that they are participating in an experience. This is designed to make the client feel special. Since it is a big deal they are receiving this exclusive information, our communication goal was to make the target feel special.
The addition of the combination lock was the main component of our concept. We wanted the content of the book to be the focus, but only for the right eyes.

The combination of the lock was "4-5-1," the temperature at which paper will combust, an homage to fire, Firebelly Marketing's main branding element. This design decision gives the book a "burn after reading" experiential touch.
This is the first stage in the process, and as the book continues, the process gets more complex. All pages following this build on this skeleton of a map. Since the process is confidential, this is the only page shown from the book.
